A short tease from my latest book: “Ashley’s Racialized Asymmetry”
“Mommy, may I ask you a question?” From Ashley’s mouth, which, calculatedly speaking, couldn’t have been more than several feet from her mother’s ears, the phrasing of the inquiry—both informal... Read more...

The social anatomy of a verdict
The verdict was read, while some held their breathawaiting a divergence from America’s historic trajectorySince this is two thousand and thirteen, the presumed racialized palimpsest wiped cleanbecause a darker countenance is projected from the rectory “Racism’s not dead” and “Justice for Trayvon”were the refrains issued forth from the stepsOf the imperial structures, representing Blind Justicefor the protesters denounced and they wept All of sixteen hours, culminating two-days’ works-worthwas the time spent in sequestered deliberationTo mete out a fate, consequently a fetefrom a jury pool symbolizing a virginal nation Purporting to... No Safe Sanctuary
Self-appointed and self-anointed wayward wanderer of backwater environsAmidst a misanthropic peoples—so assumed—with minds in irons You’ve been endowed, nay, privileged to say, since the inception of this artifice“I’ll snatch your life!” “I’ll rape your wife!” “You’re just a thing, you nigger prentice!” Based on presumptuous premises of innate animalityTo make even the ‘Others’ see me as a threat and hindrance whose life shan’t be So, go, the cultural vestiges that became inculcated and terracedAffront a democratic order, a metamorphosis, but look: “It’s not there!” An arrest? Occupy Wall Street: Outrage against economic and political corruption
Movements that form amongst people, espousing the grievances against corruption, avarice, inequality, injustice, and the like, are peculiar things. While movements similar to that of the current Occupy Wall Street Movement customarily begin small before reaching critical mass, those who comprise their unofficial and uncounted numbers are always derided as lunatic, irresponsible, amorphous, undirected, irrational, and unrealistic. Just name any movement that began as an idea, often shared by those caught in the throes of injustice or inequality–or those sympathetic to those other than themselves that such inequities and injustices... A pedagogy of invisibility
The time seemed immeasurable, the indiginties unpleasurableas my hand flew flag-high for attention,Though the principal was present, administration monitoring quite prevalentnot a chance was I afforded to mention My contribution was considerable high status, on a seemingly conversant high stratumto the disquisition evaluating curriculum,But the inequities I peeped, on who was called on by the teachmade me reflect on arbitrarily encampments of “us” and “them” Fiscal allocation, commensurable to our social-status stationwas the academic topic being dissertated,How the hell can we students stomach the gimmicky imprudenceof the praxis not properly... Islamaphobia: Consequences of perpetual lies
Sometimes–as the old aphorism states–one’s silence, while surrounded by a din of raucous noise, may be construed as consent. Well, time to take one huge step forward and separate myself from the lumpen masses and weigh in on this most timely topic concerning the proposed construction of the masjid (mosque) near Ground Zero. The very fact that “Ground Zero” has been accepted into national parlance as nomenclature for a hallowed place to be perpetually devoid of anything positively associated with Islam speaks volumes to the spates of ignorance which have... Discourses from the perspective of a white teacher
I have been absent from the blogging sphere for a minute; however, in an attempt to compensate for lost time and lost reading, I have taken the liberty of submitting for your perusal a book review that I recently completed. Again, the purpose of this blog-site is to bring to the attention of the general public information that is apposite the livelihoods of all ethnic groups and racial entities; though commensurable with those voices that matter most respecting the marginalization of voices in the public domain. That means that where... Read more...
Power to the People for Education
Books not bombs. Education not eradication. Increased accessibility to institutions of higher learning, not the hyped escalating increasement of institutions for penalization. Teaching, not traducing. Creativity, not the componential pandering to capitalistic caprices of standardization that regulate the curriculum. We say fight back, while they continue the drivel of proclaiming cutbacks. No matter how you examine it, we truly must be inhabiting the bizarro-type realm of reality where inversions of reason and irrationality give preference to the latter at the degradation and expense of the former. March 4th–appropriately sloganized as... Read more...
A critically pedagogical analysis of the Haitian devastation
> Critical pedagogists have a peculiar way of examining people, current events, politics, claims-for-democracy, the canonized curriculum, and the occasional dissonance that erupts when all of the former don’t align with what good ol’ learning is supposed to constitute. Good learning according to some scholars included within the critical-pedagogy orbit (Chomsky, 2000; Loewen, 1995; Sardar & Davies; Vidal, 2004; Zinn, 1980, 2005), especially relevant to the part about the role that teaching has been an instrument of developing patriotism and unquestioning acquiescence of America’s domestic affairs and foreign forays, is...
